We have expertise in all areas of financing, including frameworks for financial institutions, negotiations and document preparation for the financing of vessels, rigs, real estate and company acquisitions, securities handling, financial institutions’ sale and marketing of financial products, as well as compliance regulations. We assist banks, brokerages, insurance companies, borrowers and lenders. Some of our lawyers have previous work experience from financial institutions, industry, shipping and The Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway. Our collective years of experience have enabled us to develop a sound understanding of legal and strategic issues in this area.
Framework conditions
Framework conditions are central to Selmer’s banking, financing and insurance work. We assist with regulatory issues applicable to all types of investment firms and financial institutions. We have substantial expertise in framework conditions, regulatory issues and compliance.
Licenses
Selmer’s services include license application and maintenance. We assist with licensing implications of mergers and demergers and provide advice regarding the implementation of MIFID (Markets in Financial Instruments Directive 2004/39/EC). In the event of an imminent license revocation, we assist with crisis management, restructuring and/or liquidation.
Financing
We offer advice regarding all types of domestic and international financial transactions and negotiate instruments such as syndicated loan agreements, bond loans, convertible loans, and shipping and corporate loans. Our services also extend to document preparation and negotiations between borrowers and lenders regarding the provision of guarantees.
Pension and insurance
Selmer advises several domestic and international insurance companies regarding all types of insurance issues. Our advice includes framework conditions and supervision, negotiations prior to policy issuance, as well as advice and dispute resolution during the insurance claim settlement process. We have extensive experience with pension schemes, including the organisation of pension funds.
